Italians who buy online appreciate more and more the freedom of delivery away from home

Even Italians, as has already happened for some time in several European countries, appreciate every day more the possibility of being able to manage in total freedom the withdrawal of products purchased online through lockers with automatic drawers now increasingly present in our cities.

This is demonstrated by the constant growth in the number of lockers installed at service stations by InPost, a logistics group specializing in out-of-home deliveries and present in 9 countries with about 891 million packages delivered in Europe in 2023, in partnership with EG Italia, part of EG Group, an English retailer that manages over 6,300 sites between service stations and fast food in 10 countries between Europe, USA and Australia.

In Italy - a strategic market for the further international expansion of InPost - today there are almost 150 lockers installed in Esso service stations managed by EG Italia, in 89 Italian cities thanks to this partnership. Every day, Italians take advantage of a stop on the way home or work while filling up with fuel, add water to the wipers or waiting for the car wash, to pick up the products ordered by the main e-commerce, waiting for them in one of the 9,400 drawers of lockers installed at the gas stations managed by EG Italia.

"Our network continues to grow in Italy in particular thanks to agreements with leading partners such as EG Italia. - Nicola D'Elia, Managing Director of Southern Europe at InPost - At petrol stations, our user can pick up and send their parcels while facing other tasks. The ability to incorporate package management into daily routines saves time and gives customers more freedom. The goal is to be closer to Italians and offer greater comfort, avoiding long waits at home for the courier or in line to send or pick up a package. The lockers at the distributors are operational 24 hours a day, 7/7, are illuminated and video-monitored to ensure security to users of the service."

"As has already happened in other markets, also in Italy service stations are expanding their offer to the consumer - says Maurizio Mangione, Country Manager EG Italia. - EG Italia, a company of the EG Group, global retailer with consolidated experience in fuel, convenience and catering, is combining fuel, convenience and catering, additional services consistent with the characteristics of the stop for refueling.

In fact, stopping at one of our petrol stations, our customers can do their shopping, enjoy an hamburger and have a good coffee.
And before getting back on the road they can pick up the product purchased online delivered in the InPost locker.

All within a single site: a frictionless shopping experience that makes stopping for refueling more complete and satisfying."

The capillarity reached by the InPost network in our country with about 6,000 points in all regions facilitates an increasing use by citizens of out of home delivery services. By aggregating the data of 10 major cities, InPost covers 65% of the population: over 5 and a half million Italians living in Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin, Palermo, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Bari and Catania live 5 minutes from an InPost point.
