Here we are, the holiday gift rush is just around the corner, and Black Friday is quickly approaching. Between a list of potential gifts and browsing through e-commerce offers, we at InPost are ready to offer you impeccable service even during the busiest shopping period of the year.
How will we do it? Through route optimization, the use of green vehicles, and the development of new IT systems. Our goal is to make life easier for those who choose us, with a network of lockers active 24/7, and InPost Points across the country, allowing online shoppers to manage their packages conveniently, quickly, and safely—features that are even more crucial during the holiday season.
"In Italy," comments Salvatore Russo, Southern Europe Head of Logistics, "the market for deliveries through lockers and generally out-of-home solutions is emerging as a promising approach to addressing the challenges of urban logistics. The adoption of InPost lockers is growing (+50% compared to 2023) thanks to the convenience for customers and the reduction in environmental impact."
This last point is also confirmed by the results of the report "The Environmental Impact of E-commerce Deliveries," produced by Netcomm with the B2c Logistics Center Research Group and the Politecnico di Milano. The report shows that out-of-home deliveries of online purchases contribute to a 38% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional deliveries. Moreover, we at InPost Italy follow the decarbonization strategy of the InPost Group, which has signed the Paris Agreement under the Climate Pledge.
"The reach of the InPost Group in Italy has grown to over 7,500 pickup points," continues Russo, "leading us to strengthen our infrastructure across the territory to be increasingly efficient and fast, suitable for flawless last-mile management in line with customer expectations. To address the impact of the peak season, the period leading up to the holiday season, we are implementing a series of strategies that will allow us to continue to deliver services aligned with the Group's values: fast, sustainable, and easy."
And to offer you even better and more punctual service, our growth plans include a new logistics hub: a 9,000 sqm warehouse with 7 meters of internal height, 20 loading bays—12 for trucks and 8 for vans—, a large external area, and office spaces of about 600 sqm. These are the main features of the new InPost Italia logistics hub in the municipality of Pieve Emanuele (MI). The facility is located in an area with a dense network of InPost lockers and InPost Points. In fact, Lombardy ranks first among Italian regions where the InPost network is most widespread, with almost 1,500 out-of-home pickup points. This strategic hub, near Milan and with connections to important highways such as A50 (Milan's Western Ring Road), A1 (Milan - Naples), and A7 (Milan - Genoa), will enable InPost to efficiently and quickly manage packages for the city center and other regions.
This location is strategic for us, as we operate a fleet of around 330 vehicles capable of ensuring operational flexibility and coverage across the entire national territory.
And we’re not stopping here!
In the future, we plan to further expand the reach of our network in Italy, increasing delivery capacity and improving interactions with major e-commerce operators. To support the expansion of the locker and InPost Point network and the growing demand for delivery services, we will also integrate our fleet with electric, hybrid, and biofuel-powered vehicles to improve operational sustainability.
The goal is to become a market leader in Italy, offering a service tailored to the user and their needs.
